April Challenge Cards

The April Challenge was selected by Darlene this month shown here.
These sketches are really challenging for us.

Barb asked if she could join our challenges and this is the card she created. Barb has a Cricuit and used it to cut the images as well as the word "love" which she cut and layered to give dimension. My photo really doesn't do Barb's card justice.

It was Jess' turn to participate in the challenge this month and she made this rather quick card. The bows are from dollar store hair ribbons as is the bling. The sentiment is Inkadinkadoo stamped on a Spellbinder tag which was popped onto the base card.

Laurilee's card was beautiful as always, although she said this challenge was really difficult for her. She cut the 3 scalloped circles with a punch and ran it through Swiss Dots Cuttlebug folder and layered onto some gorgeous Bo Bunny paper. Then she used the Martha Stewart butterfly (her favourite punch all time the note says) from the same paper and added glitter. Co-ordinating ribbon was attached under the punched strip. The tag is a Nestibility stamped with a sentiment from Papertrey Ink and edged with Martha Steward pink ink. Laurilee always send great instructions with her cards.

The front of my card was embossed with the Sizzix Floral Flourish folder. The images from Inkadinkadoo Round Frames set were stamped 6 times; one set was cut out and popped over the bottom 3 images. The edges dragged with Memories Midnight blue and layered onto blue cardstock.

Darlene's card this month is quite different from her previous cards. The images are cut from her Cricuit and embossed with gold. She also embossed the edges of the green paper she used underneath the images. The stamped sentiment is Rosewood stamps also embossed in gold. Darlene used the most interesting wood grained paper layered onto her white base card. I will have to ask her exactly how she did the embossing on this card when I see her next.

The card Donna finally settled on turned out beautifully. She cut the butterflies from a Spellbinder Shapeability. She layered them onto the brown ribbon and added dollar store bling. The sentiment is Hero Arts.

Cassie decided she wanted to make this challenge as well. Her card made use of a Martha Stewart edge punch and a Spellbinder Nestibility Scalloped Cicle. She alternated the circles over a piece of ribbon and added a sticker to the centre circle.

I guess I will have to show the results of next month challenge brought to us by Laurilee in 2 posts next month. If you would like to join our challenge, let me know and I will let you know where to send your images. I will post the May challenge tomorrow.

Pop-Cuts - Update

The new Pop-Cuts I talked about here have had a technical issue that has delayed production. The stamps are ready to go but the template required to complete the kit has had some minor production issues. We hope to have the templates returned soon, as this is one of the few items we have manufactured somewhere other than Campbellford.

We apologize for any inconvenience but check back here often. I will update the status of these big, bold stamps.

Save the Dates

Check your calendars and try to keep at least one of the dates free from June 3 until June 6. Trust me it will be worth a visit to the store during those days. More information to come when the date gets a little closer.

This photo was taken a couple of years ago while Tom & Rose-Marie were away at a show in Calgary. Now there is another section of Rosewood stamps on the wall.

Remember save a date!

Another birthday card

This is the card Cassie made for Donna's birthday.

Cassie is also a fan of Penny Black and the "Wooly Dames" are so adorable. She coloured them with Copics and metallic Gelly Roll pens. The sentiment is a "Fractured Funny" from Hambo stamps. Cassie chose to use a pale yellow card for the base and popped the colour image onto it.

This shows the stamp that goes with the cover sentiment. Hambo Stamps have some really witty sayings.

Happy Birthday Donna

Yesterday was Donna's birthday. :D (We had birthday donuts!) I made her this card to commerate the special day.

I have been a big fan of Penny Black for a long time. The cuddling ducks image is new stamp from their Slap Stick line. The cushion mounting on these stamps is so....."cushy". I stamped in Memories Black (I waasn't thrilled with Memories and Copics and will try Memento for the next Copic colouring) and coloured with Copics. I still have a lot to learn about Copics but I really like how they look. I used 3 colours on this stamp BG10, Y08 and E31, quick and easy. The sentiment on the front and top inside is one of Hambo's "Fractured Funny". The "Happy Birthday" is MFT.

Tomorrow I will share Cassie's card.

ScrapFest Kitchener over for another year

/

Tom & Donna returned from ScrapFest on Sunday. They were tired but satisfied with their weekend in Kitchener. It was Donna's first big show and she had a ball. I am sure she did her part to help stimulate the economy.

Everything went so smoothly for them while they were away and it was exciting for them to see the support the paper crafting industry continues to receive. Tom & Donna both learned so much while they were at the show.

Due to Rose-Marie's recently illness, she decided it would be best for her to stay in Campbellford. A BIG thank you to Laurilee for agreeing to be our guest demonstrator for the weekend. We know it was difficult to step into such large shoes but with her incredible skills it was almost seamless. Laurilee may never fully understand how much donating her expertise it meant to us all.

Thank you.

ScrapFest 2010

We really enjoy this event. The organizers do a really great job of working with both the retailers and the visiting public. If you are going to be in the Kitchener area over the weekend, stop by and say hello, Tom, Donna & Lauralee are manning the booth during the show.
