Happy Birthday Donna

Donna's birthday was last week. We had cake and flowers and of course cards. I made this card to celebrate her special day.

The flower stamp is from Inkadinkdoo that I stamped with Memento Black and coloured with 2 Tria Markers. I added the shadow behind the flowers with Copic Cool Shadow. The sentiment is from a clear Hero Arts set. I'm not sure if you can really see it (I hate scans for poor photos!) but the brown is a new paper to our store. It comes in a variety of colours and adds a beautiful shimmer to any card. Coincidently it is called Shimmer paper. Call us if you are interested. The layers were cut with Label 17, I think.

I didn't get a photo of the inside but I stamped a Whipper Snapper Chicken holding presents that I coloured with my beautiful markers. The base card was stamped repeatedly with Vintage photo and a gift box stamp from Rosewood. I created a pop-card with the chicken stamp that a scan would not have done justice. I was trying for a bit of humour. The outside of the card looked so prim and proper but the inside was meant to be fun. Not at all like Donna herself, she is all fun all the time. One of the kindest people I know.

My DH and I were invited to an anniversary party this weekend, so I decided to make cards based on this design. I started with the card but instead of using designer paper I got out my Big Shotz and a Sizzix embossing folder. I think I may have cut the base card the wrong dimension since it ended up being a 6" square card instead of the A2 I made last time but it worked out great and I really liked the card. The sentiment on the outside is from a Hero Arts clear set and the interior sentiment "Congratulations" is a old wood mount Hero Arts set. A rather elegant card, if I do say so myself but somehow it just wasn't the card for Tom & Jen.

So I started again with a Penny Black animal stamp. Tom & Jen are such a fun couple. He has an incredible sense of humour and Jen is just so sweet. Elegant just didn't quite suit them. These cute little ducks look to me a like a fun loving couple. I coloured them with copics and once again realized how important the right paper is. I ended up stamping the ducks again and using Bic Mark-its instead of getting the right paper. The embellishment isn't on this card yet. The attachment it isn't necessary but I really like how it anchors the flap.

I absolutely love this card design. It is a great way to use up bits of designer paper or add texture with embossing folders. I can also see how diecut shapes could be added on the left panel f0r dramatic effect.

Another birthday card

This is the card Cassie made for Donna's birthday.

Cassie is also a fan of Penny Black and the "Wooly Dames" are so adorable. She coloured them with Copics and metallic Gelly Roll pens. The sentiment is a "Fractured Funny" from Hambo stamps. Cassie chose to use a pale yellow card for the base and popped the colour image onto it.

This shows the stamp that goes with the cover sentiment. Hambo Stamps have some really witty sayings.

Happy Birthday Donna

Yesterday was Donna's birthday. :D (We had birthday donuts!) I made her this card to commerate the special day.

I have been a big fan of Penny Black for a long time. The cuddling ducks image is new stamp from their Slap Stick line. The cushion mounting on these stamps is so....."cushy". I stamped in Memories Black (I waasn't thrilled with Memories and Copics and will try Memento for the next Copic colouring) and coloured with Copics. I still have a lot to learn about Copics but I really like how they look. I used 3 colours on this stamp BG10, Y08 and E31, quick and easy. The sentiment on the front and top inside is one of Hambo's "Fractured Funny". The "Happy Birthday" is MFT.

Tomorrow I will share Cassie's card.
